This was a challenging shoot for Tia and I, but despite how hard it was- it was equally as beautiful, intimate, moving and inspiring. I know that it was God at work the day the Lisa called my studio and requested a last minute photo shoot. It was my birthday and even though I had planned to take the day off, once I spoke with Lisa, I knew- there was no better way to spend my birthday this year than creating these photographs with Lisa and her sweet husband, Reuben. Lisa had been diagnosed with stage four cancer and her first chemotherapy session was going to be the beginning of the following week. It was important to Lisa and Reuben to document her vibrancy, beauty and health before the chemo started. Because of my strong faith, I felt with all my heart that Tia and I were meant to share this day with Lisa and Reuben. As painful as this day was for all, I am so thankful and proud and honored to have gotten to share part of this journey with these two beautiful souls. We all laughed, we all cried and most importantly we all prayed together. Lisa is an amazing inspiration. She's a fighter. She is a beautiful, inspiring woman.
